Engineering Breakdown: The 3-Stage Filtration Process of Inclined Screen Separators

Effective industrial wastewater treatment relies on progressive filtration. A single mechanical barrier is rarely sufficient to handle unpredictable flow rates and varying solid geometries. To achieve optimal dry-matter output from high-volume sewage streams, our inclined solid liquid separators utilize a precisely engineered, three-stage progressive filtration system.

Here is the mechanical breakdown of how the equipment processes raw effluent into manageable solid waste and clarified discharge.

Stage 1: Overflow Distribution and Primary Screening

The process begins at the top of the unit. Raw wastewater is pumped into a headbox equipped with an overflow weir. The weir ensures the fluid is distributed evenly across the entire width of the inclined screen surface, preventing channeling and maximizing the active filtration area.

As the fluid cascades down the angled screen, gravity and the kinetic impact of the water push the solid matter downward. The bulk of the free water escapes through the gaps in the sieve plate, completing the primary separation phase.

Stage 2: Secondary Filtration via Spiral Sleeve

The solids, now significantly stripped of free liquid, slide to the lower collection trough of the sieve plate. Here, they enter the spiral sleeve filter screen. This section initiates the mechanical dewatering phase. A heavy-duty internal screw mechanism engages the material, utilizing rotational force to extract trapped moisture that gravity alone could not remove. The secondary screen captures finer particulates that bypassed the initial inclined deck.

Stage 3: Tertiary Sieve Tube Compression

In the final stage, the internal screw acts as an auger, pushing the concentrated solid matter into a restricted sieve tube round screen.

This multi-stage architecture guarantees high throughput capacity without compromising the dryness of the final separated solids.
